Ergonomics
Definition
In the context of typing, ergonomics refers to the science of designing and arranging your workspace so that your body is in a natural, sustainable position while typing. This includes desk height, chair height, keyboard placement, monitor distance, and wrist angle.
Why It Matters
Poor typing ergonomics is a leading cause of repetitive strain injuries (RSI), carpal tunnel syndrome, and chronic back/neck pain among regular computer users. Correct ergonomics reduces fatigue and allows for longer productive sessions without physical harm.
Example
Correct typing ergonomics: feet flat on the floor, elbows at 90°, wrists neutral (not bent), monitor at eye level, keyboard at or slightly below elbow height.
