Accuracy
Definition
Typing accuracy is the percentage of keystrokes typed correctly out of the total keystrokes attempted. It is calculated as: (correct keystrokes ÷ total keystrokes) × 100. Professional typing standards typically require 95–98% accuracy.
Why It Matters
High accuracy means fewer corrections, less wasted time, and lower cognitive load. Accuracy is often more valuable than raw speed — a typist at 65 WPM with 99% accuracy outperforms a typist at 80 WPM with 88% accuracy in most real-world tasks.
Example
If you type 500 characters and make 10 errors, your accuracy is (490 ÷ 500) × 100 = 98%.
